Our Board
The Ivernia Board of Directors share a wealth of experience in some of Ireland’s largest insurance companies. The board consists of Michael Doyle, John O’Roarke, Mark Cliff and Padraig Lynch who work together to make corporate decisions and continuously improve and direct the Ivernia Leadership Team.
Michael Doyle
Chief Executive Officer / Executive Director
Michael is the Chief Executive Officer of Ivernia Insurance and has over 25 years’ general insurance experience, through previous roles at FBD and Zurich. In his most recent leadership role, he served as Director of Sales and distribution for Zurich’s general insurance business in Ireland. Michael also served as Chief Executive Officer of Zurich’s MGA business, Wrightway underwriting from 2016 to 2019. Michael is well placed to continue to build on successes of the past and continue to drive profitable growth for the business whilst also positioning Ivernia as a market leader in the MGA space.
John O’Roarke (UK)
Chairman
John has over 35 years’ experience in the insurance industry having held senior executive roles in some of the UK’s largest insurers as well as non-executive and chair roles since retiring. He started his insurance career with AIG working in Finance roles in Europe, Middle East and Africa before moving to AIG’s New York head office. In 1990, he joined Churchill Insurance in its start-up phase helping to grow it to £2bn turnover over a 13-year period and becoming Group Managing Director. Following the acquisition of Churchill by Direct Line Group he became COO of the combined business. In 2007, with a team of colleagues, he led a management walk-in and subsequent turnaround of LV= as CEO of General Insurance, profitably growing the business to become the UK’s #3 car insurer with £1.6bn turnover and becoming recognised as the UK’s Most Trusted Insurer. In recent years, John has occupied Non-Executive Director roles at Aviva UK, Hiscox Asia, and Horwich Farrelly Solicitors.
Mark Cliff (UK)
Non-Executive Director
Mark is non-executive director of a number of insurance-related businesses, including Be Wiser, Evolution Claims Management, RS Connect and Ivernia Insurance. Previously, between 2015-2019, he was chairman (exec and non-exec) at Brightside Group.
Mark was chief executive of retail and distribution at Ageas Insurance Ltd where he was responsible for all Ageas UK’s broker distribution and affinity relationships, as well as Ageas’s Kwik Fit Financial Services, Ageas Insurance Solutions, RIAS and Castle Cover.
He has also worked at AXA Insurance, where he held the position of markets and managing director.
Mark is also a member of BIBA’s Large Broker Advisory Board.
Padraig Lynch
Executive Director
Padraig has over 25 years experience in the insurance business. He began his career in the underwriting and claims area with Allianz and then went on to focus on the insurance broking sector, specialising in general insurance.
In 2007, he set up insureme.ie which was later rebranded as Chill Insurance in 2008. Chill Insurance is now Ireland’s largest online insurance broker.
